Germs
B loves science. It is more of a hobby than a school subject. He woke up one morning and didn't feel well. He read about germs and became fascinated with a particular germ called T4 bacteriaphage. I cannot tell you anything about it, except that this is what it looks like. Apparently. It has been enlarged to show detail. :) B has discovered a lot of how this particular germ attaches to a cell, inserts itself into the cell and how it hijacks the nucleus of the cell by alterning the DNA and then exploding with a million more of these little buggars.
Funny the things this boy discovers on YouTube.

Lewis and Clark Peace Tokens
We are studying how Lewis and Clark are preparing for the journey. One of the missions for this journey was to establish trade with the Indian Nations along the way. They had created peace tokens that showed a handshake on one side and President Jefferson on the other side. I had the boys create their own peace tokens. Also this is a Picture of Lewis and Clark done by C.

Lego Outhouse?
Alright, B and C have a passion for Legos. They have a ton of random blocks, no instructions and have created a lego city. And they trade within the city with "shiny's" the clear lego blocks. So, this afternoon B came up to me and showed me his lastest addition to Lego City. An outhouse.
Should I be disturbed?
If you look carefully, there is even toliet paper.
LOL.
LOL.

A Knight Saves the Princess
B followed through with his plan to write and produce a play. Here is the script (dictated by B and written by Mom) Character names were decided upon the cast. (I don't know why C keeps the name Zygon but it's not the first time he came up with that name.)
Set and costumes made by B and C. (Mom helped with the horse).
Complete with castle surrounded by lava moat.
Tickets were a dollar. Opening day was a success and they are now working on their next play: Alien Hunting.
Stay tuned.....

Knights in colored paper...
This summer I have applied a no-school policy and after a month of video games and endless episodes of Spongebob....they finally unplug and get a bit interested in playing in real life. I bought a ream of construction paper and allowed full access. No rules (except clean up the mess you make) and no instruction.
B made a suit of armor, out of black construction and not to be outdone, C created his suit...complete with boots.
Tonight I was encouraged to hear B speak of creating a play and using their new costumes..
Fun!

This year we will work on jumping off the conveyor belt of conventional education and create our own path to enlightenment.
